Setting up a kiosk involves three steps: configuring the kiosk in NectarPay, opening the public kiosk URL on the device, and unlocking it with a PIN.
Prerequisites
- An Active NectarPay account on the Lite plan.
- At least one location with a paired terminal. The kiosk sends every payment to its assigned terminal.
- A tablet or device with a modern browser, on the same network as the terminal.
1. Create the kiosk in NectarPay
- Open Locations, then choose the location where the kiosk will operate.
- Add a kiosk for the location and configure:
- Terminal — the WisePOS E that handles payments for this kiosk.
- Receipt Printer (optional) — assign an Epson printer for printed receipts.
- Allowed Public IP (optional) — restrict the kiosk URL to a specific network IP.
- Session Timeout (seconds) — how long the kiosk waits before resetting an idle session.
- Confirmation Timeout (seconds) — how long the success screen is shown after a payment completes.
- Catalog Landing Mode — whether the kiosk lands on a category picker or the full catalog.
- JWT Expiry Days — how long the kiosk's saved session remains valid before it has to be re-authorized.
- Save. NectarPay generates a public kiosk URL and a 6-digit PIN.
2. Open the kiosk on the device
- On the tablet, navigate to the public kiosk URL provided by NectarPay.
- The kiosk shows the Enter Kiosk PIN screen.
- Enter the 6-digit PIN to unlock the device.
- (Optional) Choose Install Kiosk App to install NectarPay as a Progressive Web App for full-screen kiosk mode.
If the session is invalidated or expires later, the device shows "Your kiosk session expired or was invalidated. Enter the PIN again to continue."
3. Verify the kiosk
After unlocking, the kiosk loads the splash screen with Touch to Start.
- Tap the screen to enter the catalog.
- Browse a product, add it to the cart, and run a test checkout.
- Confirm that the payment is sent to the right terminal and that the receipt is printed or emailed as expected.
Kiosk context page
To see the runtime configuration of a kiosk, open the Kiosk Context page from the kiosk launcher menu (or visit the /kiosk/{tokenHash}/context URL). It displays:
- Kiosk ID, Account ID, Location ID, Terminal ID, Receipt Printer ID
- Allowed Public IP
- Confirmation Timeout and Session Timeout in seconds
- Catalog Landing Mode
- JWT Expiry Days and Session Expires At
Use this page to verify settings if a kiosk isn't behaving as expected, or to confirm which terminal it's paired to.
Troubleshooting
- "Set up this kiosk" — the device isn't linked to a kiosk yet. Open the public kiosk URL from the kiosk's settings on this device, then install the app.
- "Unable to open kiosk" — NectarPay couldn't restore the session. Try again, or reopen the public kiosk URL.
- "Kiosk unavailable" — the kiosk is unauthorized for this device or has been disabled. Contact a staff member with admin access.
