This page describes the kiosk experience from the customer's perspective.
Splash screen
When the kiosk is idle, customers see a splash screen with:
- The eyebrow text NectarPay Kiosk Experience.
- A large Touch to Start call to action.
- A subtitle: "Browse, compare, and build your cart at your own pace."
- An optional Scan Barcodes prompt if barcode scanning is enabled.
The splash screen returns automatically after the kiosk's configured session timeout.
Browse the catalog
After tapping the splash, customers land on the catalog. The catalog title is Browse Catalog and the subtitle reads "Choose a product, then pick the variant you want to add."
- Search the catalog with the search field at the top.
- Filter by category — if group-level tags are configured, customers see Shop by category and can choose a tag to narrow the products. The filter subtitle reads "Use tags to narrow the products shown below."
- All Products — clears the category filter.
If no products match the filter, the kiosk shows "No matching products found." If the catalog has no kiosk-visible products at all, it shows "No kiosk-visible products are available right now."
Filter by category
The category filter (Shop by category) is driven by tags applied to product groups. To control it:
- Add tags to your product groups. See Product tags and Product groups.
- Customers see only the tags that have at least one in-stock product behind them.
Product detail and variants
Tapping a product opens its detail page.
- The page shows the product image, description, and a list of variants (prices).
- For products with multiple options, customers see See all to switch among variants.
- Choose Add to Cart to add the selected variant to the order.
- Use Back to Catalog to return.
If the product is no longer kiosk-visible, the customer sees Product not available with the message "This product is not visible for the current kiosk session."
Cart
A cart panel shows the items the customer has added. From here they can:
- Adjust quantities.
- Remove items.
- Clear the cart.
- Choose Checkout to proceed.
If no items have been added, the kiosk shows "Your cart is empty."
Checkout
The checkout screen is titled Review Order and lets the customer:
- Review the Order Summary, including item quantities, subtotal, Tax, and Total.
- Choose a Receipt Preference:
- Print — print at the kiosk.
- Email — email it to the customer (with a required email field).
- Print + Email — both.
- None — no receipt.
- Choose Edit Order to go back to the cart, or Pay to send the payment to the kiosk's terminal.
While the payment is being sent, the kiosk shows "Payment is being sent to the terminal. Cart edits are disabled until it finishes."
Idle and session reset
If the customer steps away during checkout, the kiosk shows a "Still there?" prompt with a countdown:
- Continue — keep the cart and stay on the page.
- No action — the kiosk resets to the splash screen after the countdown ends.
Success
After a successful payment, the kiosk shows:
- Payment Complete eyebrow and Payment Successful title.
- The Total Paid.
- A receipt note based on the customer's choice (printing, emailing, both, or none).
- A short countdown back to the splash screen, plus a Back to Catalog button.
Recovering from errors
The kiosk surfaces friendly recovery prompts when something goes wrong:
- Canceled — "Checkout was canceled. Clear the checkout to rebuild the order."
- Failed — "Payment did not complete. Cancel the checkout to rebuild the order."
- Conflict — "This cart can no longer be edited remotely. Clear or cancel the checkout to start over."
- Unavailable — "This cart is no longer available. Please start a new order."
In every case, the customer can clear the checkout and start a new order.
