Receipt printers

Connect an Epson receipt printer and assign it to terminals.

NectarPay supports two ways to print receipts for in-person payments:

  • Epson printer - a networked Epson receipt printer (such as the TM-m30III) assigned to a terminal. The printer handles receipts automatically at checkout.

  • Direct terminal printing - available on the Verifone V660P reader. NectarPay renders and sends a receipt image directly to the reader after payment. No external printer is needed. See Print a receipt at the terminal.

This article covers Epson printer setup and assignment.

Prerequisites

  • An Epson printer that supports the ePOS Device Service.

  • The printer's IP address on the same network as the device running NectarPay.

  • Owner or admin role to manage printer assignments.

Set up a printer

  1. Open Account Settings and select the Printers tab.

  2. In Printer Setup, enter the printer's IP Address (for example, 192.168.2.163).

  3. Choose the port:

    • 8008 - HTTP. Use during development or on a fully trusted network.

    • 8043 - HTTPS. Use in production.

  4. Choose Connect. The connection status updates to Connected when NectarPay can reach the printer.

  5. Choose Print Test Receipt to confirm output.

If the connection fails, the Debug Log panel records every event with a timestamp. Use it to see whether the issue is reaching the printer, creating the device, or sending the print job.

Accept the printer's HTTPS certificate

If NectarPay is served over HTTPS, your browser must trust the printer's self-signed certificate before it can connect.

  1. In the Printers tab, choose Open Printer Certificate Page. NectarPay opens https://{ip}:{port} in a new tab.

  2. Choose Advanced > Proceed.

  3. Return to NectarPay and choose Connect again.

Assign a printer to a terminal

When you create or edit a terminal, choose a Receipt Printer from the dropdown. The selected printer is used by default for any payment sent to that terminal.

You'll see the printer reflected on the payment screen as Printer: {name}. If a printer is unassigned or unavailable, the receipt option falls back to email.

Note: Only owners and admins can change which printer is assigned to a terminal.

Print options at checkout

When sending a payment to a terminal, you can choose:

  • Email - receipt is emailed to the customer.

  • Print - receipt prints from the assigned printer.

  • Print + Email - both.

  • None - no receipt.

The same options are available to customers at a self-serve kiosk checkout.

What's on the printed receipt

Printed and emailed terminal receipts are generated for any card-present payment, including tap, chip, and swipe transactions made with a regular card or with Interac Debit.

For these card-present and Interac Debit payments, the receipt includes the card brand and last 4 digits, entry method, and, when provided by the card network, additional verification details such as:

  • Auth Code - the authorization code for the transaction.

  • Application - the card's preferred application name (for example, the specific debit or credit application used).

  • AID - the application identifier (dedicated file name) used for the transaction.

  • Account - the account type selected on the card (for example, checking, savings, or credit).

  • ARC - the authorization response code.

  • Application Cryptogram - the cryptogram generated by the card for the transaction.

  • TVR - the terminal verification results.

  • TSI - the transaction status information.

These fields only appear when the card network provides them, so some receipts may show fewer details than others.

The business header on the receipt uses your Stripe account's support address when available. If no support address is set, NectarPay falls back to your business's company address, or to the individual's address on file, so the receipt still shows a return address.

What's on a printed receipt

Printed receipts include the business header, location and terminal, payment ID, and a Summary section with subtotal, discounts, tax, tip, and total.
